With January averages well below –15 °C, Winnipeg is one of the coldest major cities in the world – and one of the best places to enjoy a sauna. A properly sized Harvia heater keeps an indoor or outdoor sauna hot through the longest Prairie winter. Send us your room dimensions or use the sauna heater calculator and we will recommend a model.
For a basement or bathroom sauna in Winnipeg, an electric heater is the easiest way to buy a sauna setup that works every day. Recommended Harvia models:
Electric sauna heaters run on a dedicated 240 V circuit and should be connected by a licensed electrician; within Winnipeg, electrical permits are issued by the City of Winnipeg. Size the heater at about 1 kW per cubic metre of room volume, adding capacity for glass or uninsulated walls. Read our guide to installing a sauna heater.
Cottages in the Whiteshell, at Lake of the Woods or along Lake Winnipeg often have limited power – a Harvia wood-burning sauna stove is the natural choice there. The compact M3 is ideal for small outdoor or barrel saunas; the Pro 20, Legend and Cilindro wood stoves heat larger rooms and store heat in a big stone load. Through-wall (outside-fed) versions keep ash and firewood out of the hot room.
Use a sauna-rated insulated chimney, respect the clearances in the manual and ask your insurer about a WETT inspection. See all models on the wood-burning stoves page.
We operate online and ship across Manitoba, so you get the full Harvia range without being limited to showroom stock. Call +1 (877) 926-7267 for advice.
Prices depend on power and control type – compact electric heaters are the most affordable, while large tower and commercial heaters cost more. Current prices are listed on each product page.
