Looking for a sauna heater in Calgary? We supply the full Harvia range – compact electric heaters for condo and basement saunas, WiFi-ready models for new builds, and wood-burning stoves for backyard and cabin saunas from Bragg Creek to Canmore. Every heater ships with free delivery to the nearest carrier terminal in Calgary; residential or curbside delivery can be arranged at extra cost.
Calgary’s climate shapes the choice. Long, dry winters and sudden chinook swings mean a sauna gets used almost year-round, and a correctly sized heater brings the room up to temperature quickly even when it is –25 °C outside. Not sure what you need? Send us the room size and wall materials, or use our sauna heater calculator, and we will recommend the right kW rating before you order.
Most indoor saunas in Calgary – basement builds, garage conversions and new infills – run on a 240 V electric heater. The best sauna heater for your Calgary home depends on room volume, how fast you want to heat up and whether you want app control:
As a rule of thumb, plan about 1 kW per cubic metre (roughly 35–45 cu ft) of sauna volume, and add capacity for glass, tile or uninsulated log walls. An electric sauna heater needs a dedicated circuit and should be connected by a licensed electrician; the City of Calgary requires an electrical permit for this type of work. See our sauna heater size guide and installation tips for details.
For a backyard barrel sauna, an acreage outside the city or a mountain cabin, a wood-burning sauna stove gives you heat without running a 240 V line. Harvia wood stoves heat quickly, hold a large stone mass and handle Alberta cold snaps well. Choose a compact model such as the Harvia M3 for small outdoor saunas, or the Pro 20, Legend or Cilindro wood stoves for larger rooms. Outside-fed (“Wood Outside”) models let you load firewood from an adjacent room, keeping the hot room clean.
Before installing a wood stove, check chimney clearances in the manual and ask your insurer whether a WETT-certified inspection is required. Pair the stove with an insulated chimney kit, a heat shield and quality sauna thermometers and accessories.

Electric heaters suit indoor home saunas and daily use. Wood-burning stoves are ideal for outdoor saunas, acreages and cabins where power is limited. Read our electric vs wood comparison.
